Little Debbie® Hockey Mom of the Month 2013-14 Little Debbie Hockey Mom of the Month winners

Little Debbie® Hockey Mom of the Month

All hockey players know the real heart and soul of every team belongs to the players’ moms: The moms who wake up at the crack of dawn and stay up for late practices. Who log long hours in the car driving to and from the rink. Who are there in the stands cheering on their players from mites all the way to the pros.

The Chicago Wolves and Little Debbie recognized these hard-working moms with the Hockey Mom of the Month award, presented by Little Debbie. The Wolves selected a winner each month and presented the 2013-14 Little Debbie® Hockey Mom of the Year award during intermission on April 13.

Little Debbie Hockey Mom of the Month Winners

April 2014: Kristen Bruns

LDHMOM-april-bruns"Being a hockey mom is all about being part of your children's journey.  The driving, laundry, stinky equipment, etc. are all worth it when you see the joy they have when they are on the ice and the confidence that carries over into the rest of their lives.  It's about being supportive of the team regardless of the outcome of the game or season. I try to enjoy every minute because before you know it all 4 boys will be on to their own lives and my husband and I will be living with the memories of their childhood."

March 2014: Michelle Marino

LDHMOM-march-marino"Being a hockey mom means: Celebrating my son's victories and losses with the same positive enthusiasm; spending many hours in the car driving to the rinks and cherishing those conversations; teaching my son time management skills so he can balance his school work, guitar lessons, hockey practices and games, while still having time to just be a kid; reinforcing the importance of having respect for the coaches, referees, other players and the ice; being involved with the team and organization that my son loves."

February 2014: Deb Seger

LDHMOM-feb-deb-seger"Why I like being a hockey mom...
Although I love the game, hockey has guided my son through hard work, discipline and relationships with our hockey family to become a quality
 human being."

January 2014: Kelli Henrekin **Winner 2013-14 Hockey Mom of the Year**

LDHMOM-jan-Kelli-Henrekin"There really is nothing quite comparable to being a Hockey Mom. We are truly in a distinctive class of our own…a very special breed. We are bound together by early morning and late night practices, talks in the car, road trips and many hours spent in the arena, but most importantly a shared pride and joy in our kids that is unlike any experience imaginable. It is an adventure I would not trade for the world, and I feel extremely fortunate to be a part of it. It brings me great joy to see my boys become better hockey players which brings with it lessons in hard work, teamwork, independence, responsibility, accountability, respect and a sense of humility. Win or lose, it is a true love of the sport that keeps them moving forward and for all this I am proud to be their hockey mom."

December 2013: Jenn Munao

LDHMOM-dec-munao"Being a mom of 3 boys, being a "Hockey Mom" has taken a new meaning. I have come to truly enjoy the endless trips to the rink at all hours of the day to watch all the boys take part in a sport they just love. I love to watch the bond that my boys have created with their teammates. The bond that extends past the ice and into the locker room and into their lives. I love the other hockey families that we have come to know and I'm proud to call them our extended family. There isn't another sport that my kids have experienced such camaraderie with their teammates...and I am so thankful to be a small part of it!"

November 2013: Kristen Noonan

HMOM-NOV13"Becoming a mom has been the best part of my life. Hockey is the best game in life. So becoming a 'hockey mom' is the best of both worlds!!"
