April 20: The Power Of Ice Cream

Hey Wolves fans, as many of you know it was a tough loss last night losing in overtime. We played well and had our chances to win, but the good news is it's not a one-game series and we have a chance tomorrow to even it up 1-1.

We have the day off today to rest and regroup for the game tomorrow. I'm going to walk around the Riverwalk for a bit with some of the guys and then maybe go see an afternoon movie. Go out for a nice dinner and then back to the rooms early to start preparing for Game 2. Have to come out flying so we can bring the series home tied and finish it off in front of our great fans!!!

As mentioned earlier, I said I would give you guys a grading scale for the pregame ice cream. Not sure if many of you know, but having a little bowl of ice cream just before a pregame nap is very important to a lot of players. It has become a staple in a lot of players’ routine, including myself. The ice cream is a perfect way to finish off a big pregame meal, because it seems to help digest the food and puts me in a state of relaxation heading into my nap.

I use a four-star grading scale when rating a hotel’s ice cream presentation. First, the ice cream flavor has to be good, usually a smooth vanilla or vanilla bean receives high marks.

Second, the amount of toppings provided is another way to earn a star. Players like a little variety in their toppings, which is very understandable, because what’s a sundae without toppings? Oreo crumbles, whipping cream and chocolate sauce are usually in high demand.

Perhaps the most difficult star to earn is the third!! It involves the timing in which the ice cream is brought out from the freezer.  Many hotels make the mistake of putting the ice cream out at the start of the meal and by the time players are done with their chicken, pasta, etc., the ice cream has melted and the dessert turns into a lumpy milkshake! This is no good!

The fourth and final star is based on overall presentation. Hotels can earn full marks by having the proper serving utensils for the ice cream and various toppings, because nobody wants to have a messy dessert!!!  Well, hopefully now you guys understand the POWER OF THE ICE CREAM!!!!

Next blog I will discuss the best and worst dressed players on the road!! Preview: Miller needs help. Haha!
